The FIAA representatives highlighted the role of Tourism in the Albanian economy and the scope of this activity for the promotion of this industry.

The Minister of Tourism stated that Tourism remains a high priority of the Albanian Government and that it has been seriously worked for the improvement of key elements such as infrastructure, waste management, and water supply, etc.

The US Ambassador contributed that the future of Albanian tourism is very bright but issues such as political stability, property rights and environmental issues are crucial for the sustainable development of this sector.

The activity consisted of a one-day Conference with a targeted audience at about 100 delegates, with the major contribution of the event Scientific Partner, the European University for Tourism. The Conference gathered distinguished panelists from Albania and internationally and was successful in highlighting the difficulties that are present in the development of Albanian tourism in the present and its perspectives for the next decade. Other issues discussed were the creation of an enabling tourism environment with the public private partnership role, the best ways to make Albania a clicked tourism destination in the World Tourism Map and best examples of tour operators and organizations dealing with tourism issues.

The other aspect of this activity was the two-days Exhibition with about 50 exhibitors: governmental and local institutions, tourism projects, ports and international projects in Albania, tourism and real estate operators and national agencies. The aim of this exhibition was to attract new investors & visitors interested in the Albanian tourism and real estate numerous potentials and resources. Supported by USAID’s Rritje Albania program, exhibitors and visiting companies explored potential business collaborations and partnerships through over 100 B2B meetings held during the event. Based on feedback from businesses, many of these B2B meetings could become real business opportunities.

According to our records this activity welcomed several investors from countries like Austria, France, Italy, UK and Italy who brought their international experience and were updated with tourism opportunities in the country.

The activity was mainly supported from Societe General Albania Bank, USAID’s Rritje Albania Project, UNDP Albania, Vodafone Albania, Kohl & Partner and Kalo & Associates.
