ONE Albania was introduced to Albanian customers on January 1 ,2023. ONE Albania was the result of a lot of changes in the company during the recent years.

January 2023 

ONE concludes the process of unification with Albtelecom, becoming a single operator, under the name ONE Albania.

March 2022

ONE is acquired from the Hungarian Group, 4iG, the official owner of ALBtelecom too.

One Telecommunications was introduced to Albanian customers on September 10th, 2020. One Telecommunications was the result of a lot of changes in the company during the recent years.

2020

September: Telekom becomes One

February: Ericsson has been selected by Telekom Albania as the sole supplier to modernize the service provider’s radio and core networks. Ericsson will upgrade Telekom Albania’s network capabilities to Gigabit LTE class while also making the network 5G ready.

2019

December: Telekom Albania signs agreement with Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL), in partnership with Cognity. They will deploy leading edge end-to-end open and modular software solutions. This will help Telekom Albania to centralize, automate and digitize operations across its mobile telephony, wireless broadband, landlines, mobile IPTV, for consumer and enterprise customers.

October: Telekom Albania was awarded the license to use the 800 Mhz frequency band. This license is another step forward in the journey for further network upgrades and capacity expansion. In addition, the 800 Mhz frequency band is the last of the 4G generation which paves the way towards the 5G communication network, which among other things, will be a strong foundation for the IoT development.

May: The company ownership was completely transferred from OTE Group (part of Deutsche Telekom Group) to Albania Telecom Invest (“ATI”), representing a group of well-known investors. The latter is managed by Mr. Spas Roussev, the largest shareholder in Vivacom, the largest independent telecom operator in SEE, and Mr. Elvin Guri, an Albanian-Bulgarian investor.

2018

August: Telekom Albania ranks number one in Albania in the latest P3 performance test for mobile networks across Albania.

February: Telekom Albania receives the Superbrand status for the second consecutive year as a leading brand among 30 others in the Albanian Market, and the best company in category of mobile telephony.

2017

December: Telekom Albania is awarded with “Contributions at National Level” Prize in support of social, health care and environmental development in Albania.

November: United Nations Agencies (UN) in Albania and Telekom Albania embarked on a partnership to drive actions towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Albania.

2016

October: Telekom Albania is awarded the “Superbrand” prize in the category of mobile telephony in Albania.

September: All customers of Telekom Albania are rewarded with a unique service, “OneLife”, a complete package with medical examinations and doctor appointments for free.

August: Telekom Albania ranks number one in Albania in the latest P3 performance test for mobile networks.

May: Telekom Albania launches “Sea Hero Quest”, the first mobile game in the world aiming at finding a cure for dementia. It was downloaded nearly 3 million times and generated the equivalent of over 12,000 years of lab based research on dementia.

2015

December: @Telekom Community Store opens its doors to the newest place for the young people to hang out in Tirana. This is a meeting place for everyone who loves technology, art and culture.

September: Telekom Albania launches 4G+, the fastest internet of the 4G generation network, reaching speeds of up 225 Mbps.

2012

December” Supported by Partners Albania, Philanthropy 2012 prize goes to AMC for its continuous social contribution.

November: AMC is awarded with the Business Excellence prize for its 3G service.

June: AMC 3G infrastructure extends to approximately 95% of the country.

January: Launches 3rd generation services in Albania, only 3 months after the 3G license acquisition, at the most competitive prices & the highest market data speeds, reaching up to 48 mbps.

2011

December: Introduces fixed services, “AMC Fix”, offering the most competitive prices in the Albanian market.

November: Exclusively introduces iPhone 4S in the Albanian market.

September: AMC is the highest bidder in the bid for the second mobile telephony license in Albania.

2010

January: Adopts COSMOTE’s corporate positioning & new communication campaign under the slogan “We see the world as you do”. In collaboration with RIM and Apple, AMC successfully introduced BlackBerry and iPhone in the Albanian market.

2009

December: AMC customers exceed 1.9 million in number.

2008

December: AMC customers reach 1.4 million in number.

2007

September: Introduces WHAT’S UP prepaid brand at the most competitive tariffs in the market.

June: First in the Albanian mobile m arket to introduce EDGE technology.

2006

October: Introduces business programmes for corporate clients, addressing both SMEs and big enterprises with integrated solutions.

2005

October: Adopts COSMOTE corporate identity, being the first COSMOTE subsidiary to visually consolidate its position in the Group.

February: Launches MMS services

2004

December: Launches “AMC Wireless Internet” via GPRS.

2003

December: AMC’s network coverage grows to 90% (population) and 80% (geographic).

2002

December: AMC launches ALBAKARTA roaming services.

2001

December: AMC’s customer base exceeds 273 thousands.

2000

December: AMC introduces the ALBAKARTA prepaid card.

August: COSMOTE acquires 85% of AMC capital share, through COSMO-HOLDING ALBANIA S.A., COSMOTE’s 97% owned subsidiary

1996

May: AMC launches commercial operations, being the first mobile telecommunications company to operate in Albania.
