Present were also the Ambassador of EU Delegation in Albania Mr. Sequi, as well as other members of the Albanian Government such as Minister of Transports, Minister of Economy, Minister of Social Welfare and significant representation of the Foreign Business Community in Albania. The Executive Director of FIAA Ms. Jazoj opened the ceremony by thanking everyone present in the event, which has became part of the yearly agenda of FIAA.
During her word she highlighted the work and role of FIAA during the last years and the expectations of the Foreign Business Community from the Government of Albania, giving importance to the need of dialogue and collaboration. “We highly appreciate several business dialogues that Government launched in the last months and we encourage further developing dialogue and giving life of good reforms and right decisions. Initiatives like National Economic Council are very important and we all look forward to its results”, -expressed Ms. Jazoj.
To continue, the FIAA’s President Mr. Pascal extended his wishes to the present High Officials and Investors in Albania. He stated that FIAA will continue to be a collaborator of the Albanian Government in order to have an improved business climate and a better Albania to invest.
During his word, the Ambassador of EU Delegation in Albania, Mr. Sequi expressed his considerations to the Association of the Foreign Investors and its role in the improvement of the Business environment. He also mentioned the long collaboration that FIAA and EU have had in Albania, recently even more concretized through the EU Project on the Information Business Relay which FIAA is implementing.
The highest Representative of the Albanian Government, Mr. Rama, started his word by bringing once more into attention his statement during the October 2013 FIAA Meeting, “The government is committed to ensure an economic environment that provides legal guarantees, transparency and predictability, and an investment environment that would constitute an asset for the competitive advantage of all investing companies”.
“We have established the National Economic Council, so that we might work more closely together and intensify our exchanges on policies being pursued with the main economic actors and, principally, big businesses. Very soon, we will also establish an Investment Council in order to intensify our qualitative dialogue with investors and ensure its sustainability”, – expressed Mr. Rama
He said that this Council should, in the short term, assist and collaborate with the government in dissolving unsustainable procedures, time-consuming procedures, monopolies and corruption in the way of doing business and investing in Albania. With that, obviously the Government is extremely interested in drawing more investment. With reference to the New Economic Model of Albania, Mr. Rama said that the new model relies very much on the fruitful use of the potential of attracting foreign investment to the country. As such, their collaboration in this matter becomes more than important. It is vital.
The Prime Minister of Albania concluded by highlighting these following messages:
- First of all, I want to wish you a year with plenty of kept promises from the Albanian government.
- Secondly, I wish this year to be a time of transformation for the image of the foreign investors in Albania.
- Thirdly, I wish this year to be a time when we, together, will succeed in revealing the crucial role of the investor as an actor in the creation of prosperity and welfare for citizens and our society.
- And lastly, but obviously not least, as these are related conditions, I wish you all a very productive, engaging and, above all, rewarding 2014!”
