Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) was founded in April 2000 from several Foreign Investors in Albania bringing up the need of such an organization in the country through a shared vision: to establish a unified platform that would represent and advocate for their interests in Albania. Its inception was warmly welcomed by Albanian authorities, the business community, and international institutions including the European Union, World Bank, IFC, EBRD, and OSCE.

FIAA is the country’s first organization representing foreign businesses, proudly marking more than 25 years of continuous engagement in Albania. Since its establishment, FIAA has served as a dynamic platform that brings together companies, institutions, and stakeholders who share common values, principles, and a commitment to improving Albania’s business environment. Through collaboration and exchange of knowledge, FIAA’s members contribute not only to their own growth but also to the country’s economic development at large.

FIAA unites many of the largest and most reputable international companies operating across key sectors of the Albanian economy. Its core mission is to maintain an open, constructive dialogue with the Government of Albania and other institutions, advocating for policies that promote a more attractive investment climate and a stable, transparent business environment capable of attracting additional foreign investment into the country.

Through its diverse membership base, FIAA represents a substantial portion of Albania’s foreign direct investments, originating from countries such as Italy, Greece, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, China, France, Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, and others. Its members operate in a wide range of sectors, including banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing, energy, mining, oil and gas, tourism and real estate, consulting, telecommunications and technology.

From its very foundation, FIAA positioned itself as an independent, non-profit organization, committed to transparency and integrity. It is governed by a Board of seven Directors, each representing a distinguished company in Albania. With approximately 100 active members and a strong reputation both domestically and internationally, FIAA stands today as the leading voice of foreign investors and a trusted partner in the country’s economic progress.

Over the years, FIAA has also strengthened its cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, deepening its role in supporting the country’s economic reforms and EU integration efforts. This partnership has enabled FIAA to actively contribute to policy dialogues, consultation processes, and initiatives aimed at aligning Albania’s business environment with European standards. Through regular exchanges, joint events, and technical discussions, FIAA and the EU Delegation work together to promote transparency, competitiveness, and sustainable economic development further reinforcing the organization’s mission to advocate for a modern and investor-friendly Albania.
