Ms. Marinela Jazoj represented Foreign Investors Association of Albania – FIAA in the Israel – Albania Business Forum organized in Tirana on September 7th, 2023.

This Forum convened over fifty commercial companies of both countries with the aim to attract investments and build connections in the fields Albania is focusing to develop on a national level, such as renewable energy, tourism, agriculture and water management, and cybersecurity.

In June 22^nd the Chairman of FIAA, Mr. Alessandro D’Oria participated to a official Reception with the Representatives of the EBRD Board of Directors who visited Albania from 21 to 23 June 2023. The purpose of these visits, which take place every three or four years, is to bring the Directors up to date with the progress of transition as well as to allow them to witness the impact of the Bank’s activities on this process and to become better acquainted with the domestic, foreign business and diplomatic communities in these countries.

Following the call of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the FIAA’s Tax Committee have continued the series of meetings and discussions on the draft instructions issued for the new law on Income Tax and other relevant documents, to become effective from January 1^st, 2024.

Executive Director Ms. Marinela Jazoj welcomed in the FIAA’s premises the representatives of the Trade Promotion Agency of the Principality of Asturias, Spain, ASTUREX, Mr. Bruno Lopez, Director of Asturex and Ms. Belinda Ordiz, Responsible for Promotions and New Markets. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the business climate and available opportunities in Albania for investments.

Mr. Constantin von Alvensleben, Board Member of FIAA, Country Manager at Voltalia Albanie sh.p.k and the Chairman of FIAA’s Energy Industry Council, represented FIAA in the #Business2030 Conference organized in May 31st by the United Nations Albania and the Embassy of Sweden in Albania, which brought together international and local businesses, policy makers and experts discussing and focusing on sustainability practices and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Minister of Justice of Albania at the same time National Coordinator against Corruption, Mr. Ulsi Manja invited key business organizations and chambers of commerce to a roundtable meeting to discuss on the reconstruction of a new trust relationship with the Directorate of Anticorruption at the Ministry of Justice.

Following the meeting of the FIAA’s Human Capital Committee with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Minister of State for Youth and Children, FIAA was officially informed by the Ministry of Education and Sports on the establishment of a common Working Group in support of the labor force in Albania.

FIAA is happy to announce the election of 4 new members in the Board of Directors elected during the Annual Assembly Meeting 2023 held in May 16th.

FIAA’s Energy Industry Council’s members have held regular consultation and meetings and have finalized the Manifest on Current Matters of the Energy Industry. This manifest has introduced the most current issues of the industry and the Council is looking forward to further discuss and tackle them in a Roundtable meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Energy and relevant stakeholders.

The Tax Committee of FIAA met with the larger base of the members and made a presentation of the key Changes and main challenges encountered in the Newly approved Law on Income Tax that will be effective from January 1st 2024. Mrs. Zarina Taja, Director of Fiscal Harmonization Directory in the Ministry of Finance and her Team, who have been continuously cooperating with FIAA Representatives during the Draft Law consultation phase were present in this meeting.
