The recently established FIAA Digital Economy Council met on October 26th to brainstorm on the issues that are common to businesses operating in this sector, to establish a vision for the work ahead and to elect its chairman. CEOs and other representatives from companies in the subsectors represented in the committee, TELCOs, ICT and BPO companies, shared their concerns related to several issues.
The FIAA’s Digital Economy Council has the following objectives:
- strengthen communication between the Government and Business Authorities in the country, in order to take measures and policies aimed at digitalization,
- support and assist the Government with consultancy and knowledge on European funding for digitization,
- facilitate capacity building by providing examples of good practices and experience from European and Western Balkan countries,
- educate businesses about key digital technologies that lead to their best efficiency.
These objectives will be supported by a very detailed Digital Strategy divided in specific pillars where all stakeholders could contribute with their know how and experience. The Council will act as an all-inclusive stakeholders structure where members can discuss and interact with other actors in the ecosystem on the digital development of Albania.
Mr. Balázs Révész, CEO of Vodafone Albania was elected unanimously as the chairman of the council. He brings onboard excellent experience in leadership and strategic vision and the willingness to contribute not only to improving the doing business climate for the digital economy sector but also to fostering the development of Albania as an emerging economy.
