March 27th, 2026

The Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) successfully hosted the third edition of its flagship conference, “Renewable Energy in Albania: Strategic Pathways to 2030 – Accelerating Growth vs. System Constraints,” bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and international partners to shape Albania’s energy future.

Focusing on the 2030 agenda, the conference highlighted the transition to a modern, sustainable energy system. High-level participation from the Energy Secretariat in Vienna underscored Albania’s growing role in the regional energy market and its alignment with European standards.

Across five sessions, discussions addressed regulatory readiness, market development, renewable energy expansion, grid flexibility, regional energy exchanges, and CBAM implementation.

Albania’s renewable electricity system, growing solar capacity, and ambitious 2030 targets create a unique opportunity, but success depends on strengthened grids, transmission, and system flexibility. During the remarks, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaci, highlighted achievements and collaboration, while the Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation in Albania, Ritva Heikkinen, stated that Albania has a very strong starting position to the Green Transition process. In addition, Deputy Head of Energy Community Secretariat Marie-Therese Richter-Kuhnert, highlighted that they are very confident that Albania from its position with strong renewables, is on the right path to implement the reforms. Chairman of FIAA’s Energy Council, İbrahim Halil KILIÇ, concluded that investors are ready and capital is available, what is essential is predictability, transparency, and cooperation to deliver a competitive energy system.

This edition reaffirmed FIAA’s role as a key platform fostering dialogue, investment confidence, and a resilient energy market in Albania.
