On December 17th, 2012 a delegation from the FIAA Board visited the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Sali Berisha. The purpose of the visit was to discuss with the Prime Minister the recent situation of the Economy and the Albanian actual Business Climate.
Among issues discussed during the Meeting were: obstacles faced by Investors in the Mining, Oil and Gas Industry in particular, the “Royalty Tax Increase” asking for the review of the actual Decision according to the international practices in order to support the Mining and Oil & Gas Industry in the country. Another Issue was the Energy Industry recent developments. Given this occasion, the FIAA Delegation informed the Prime Minister on the creation of its New Energy Committee, its objectives and challenges in the near future.
Other issues addressed were: Law Enforcement, the improvement of random selection process, as to ensure transparency and impartiality of the court judges and the VAT refund which remains crucial. The Government should stick to the deadlines established by law and punish the officials who are in charge of the refund activity.
The FIAA Delegation also expressed their will and readiness for collaboration with the Government Authorities to have a proper Strategy for a better functioning of the Albanian Economy.
On his side, The Prime Minster thanked the Representatives of FIAA for their will and commitment to improve the Albanian Business Climate and assured them for his continuous engagement to support and improve the dialogue among the Business and Authorities in the Country.
