The Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) hosted the German Economic Team (GET) at its offices in Tirana for the presentation of the Energy Sector Monitor Albania 2026.
The event brought together FIAA members and representatives from the energy sector who contributed to the study through interviews, sharing insights based on their experience in the Albanian market.
The presentation examined key developments and future prospects in Albania’s energy sector, including electricity and renewable energy, regional connectivity and market liberalization, oil and gas, climate commitments, and the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
GET highlighted Albania’s predominantly renewable electricity system, with renewables accounting for 94% of installed generation capacity, while emphasizing the sector’s continued reliance on hydropower. The rapid expansion of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation is helping to address seasonal and hydrological fluctuations and could further support Albania’s ambition to become a structural net exporter of electricity.
The presentation was followed by a discussion on the report’s findings and the opportunities and challenges facing Albania in strengthening energy security, enhancing regional integration, and improving competitiveness.
FIAA values its continued cooperation with GET and the opportunity to connect evidence-based analysis with the practical experience and perspectives of the foreign investor community.
